Our HAAS cross country squad ran with energy and passion for the HPA running meet on 9/1/2012! Our boys and girls team were in it to win it even though the HPA course was not an easy one with two major hills and a windy day. There were 138 girls and 224 boys competing at the HPA running meet. Here are the results from our girls and boys teams: Girls: S.M. - (42) 27:18.02, C.J. (61) 28:17.35, N.J. (96) 31:48.88, M.G. (120) 34:48.60, J.S. (123) 36:08.80, F.E. (130) 37:30.58. Boys: J.J. Pictures/Results from Canefire Conditioner
The HAAS High School Cross Country team officially participated in it's first BIIF contest this past weekend at the CL Canefire Conditioner. We were very proud of our runners as they competed in the blazing, hot sun against 10 other BIIF high schools. It's just the beginning for our runners, but already, HAAS is putting its name out there to be recognized! For this unique race, student runners were paired into two runners as each ran 3 miles, one mile at a time. Our girl runners did extremely well finishing in the middle of the pack against the other girl teams. They ran with determination and focus despite the heat and the inexperience of running in races! Our boys came flying out of the gates with student, J.J., coming in the top 5 for the first mile. The boys ran passionately, but quickly realized that the race is not always to the fastest but to those who keep a fast pace! However, just like the girls, the boys placed in the middle of the pack as they gained invaluable experience in understanding their competition. Overall, the sky is the limit for our HAAS runners. With time, commitment, and hard work, there is no doubt that our HAAS students can become elite cross country runners, ready to shock the Big Island that HAAS is in the house! Next race: 9/1 at HPA at 10 am - official meet. Here are some pictures from our last event:
